Hello friends,

The Starting out of Everyman and The ...explained of Batsford collections are for average players. They cover an opening with the basic ideas and model games.
In my opinion Emms´s book is better structured and edited; besides it has more games in the principal lines. Lane´s book cover more clearly the rare lines although some comments seem copied of other authors.

Saludos and excuse me my English.

Dear All,

Just seen that Emms ' s book on the Scotch is now for sale from the London Chess Centre.

I was a bit disappointed that it's a starting out book rather than say a book like Wells.

Anyway, if anyone has this can they have post their thoughts and how it compares to Gary Lane's recent effort.

THX

Andrew
