I am interested in seeing: e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 d4 ed4 Nd4 Bb4+ and if c3 Bc5. Also, e4 e5 Nf3 Nc6 Nc3 Nf6 d4 Bb4.

Also. The Nc3 petroff which seems so fashionable would be interesting to see.

Last, it would be nice to see if your an expert on a black side of the Ruy Lopez to see you elaborate on it so maybe some one can follow your paths. Makes things a bit easier.

Thanks, Charles.

I`d like some more coverage of the Scotch and the 5.Nc3-variation vs. the Petroff.

I would like to see some analysis on the Frankenstein-Dracula variation of the Vienna.  Most books don't give it much coverage and I get the feeling computers find the positions difficult to assess accurately.

The variation goes:
1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 Nxe4 4.Qh5 Nd6 5.Bb3 Nc6 6.Nb5 g6 7.Qf3 f5 8.Qd5 Qe7 9.Nxc7+ Kd8 10.Nxa8 b6

It is not a variation I have played often but since reading 64 Great Chess Games by Tim Harding and playing over the game Ekebjaerg-Timmerman 1991 I have been fascinated by the ensuing complications.

A GM's perspective and analysis would be most welcome and most probably very entertaining.

Two questions:

1.   The material so far has been excellent - thanks.

2.    While this will be a priority for few, for myself I would like to see something on 1 e4 Nf6 2 Nc3 e5 3 f4 d5 4 fxe5 Nxe4 5 d3. 3 Nf3 Nc6 4 d4 Bb4 is also interesting.

I note no-one seems to be clamouring for coverage of the Berlin.....

Spanish and Petrov. Scotch was rather well covered by Wells in his book...

There are so many Spanish lines to cover that it seems peculiar to have a site for the Dragon AND one for 1.e4 e5 ....

I have found your updates good, although I subscribed only recently. I started with another three sites and was playing the KG before.

I am no longer interested in the KG...

And .... THANKS for asking!

i just had the time to look at Nisipeanu's 8. Nc3!? against the Petroff in the latest update.. good job Mr. Renet for pointing out this possibility! For sure some Petroff books don't even consider its existence.
it looks like a nifty idea, which somewhat reminds me of the exchange winawer, though black must be equal in the long run.  More Petroff games please!

The following game:

till move 20. White won this game after playing Nf4 instead of Qd1.

However it would be nice if any position of the two-knights after  .....h6 Nf3,e4 Ne5 would be commented upon.

The Anti Marshall line chosen in Topalov-Kasimdzhanov is also the one recommended and analysed in some detail in the OFWATA series by Khalifman.

Seems like quite a reasonable try for a slight durable edge against the annoying Marshall.

Are we discussing 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 Bc5 here?

That's new to me.

Quite right, that should be 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 exd4 4.Nxd4 Bc5!

Thx for pointing out my ommission.

GM Renet,

I would really like to see what you have on the Topalov-Kasimdzhanov game from today.  It seems to me that White really didn't try to challenge Black's move order and merely maintained a small advantage.  It seems magical that Topalov keeps winning material against these 2700+ opponents.  Do you think you'll have some analysis of his brilliant play in these Spanish (Ruy Lopez) games?

Hi everybody,

Most of the message have mentioned th Scotch with 3..Nf6. But I wonder why you stick to this very difficult position when 3..Bc5 is from my point of vew a much better choice?

The Italian with 3..Nf6 4Ng5 or 4d4  is also very rich and I promised I will talk about it.

But of course everybody will understood That I will concentrate in priority on the games of the World Championship.

Olivier

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.d4 ed4 4.Nxd4 Bc5 5.Nxc6 or 4...Nf6 5.Nxc6 are both very safe and easy for white, but not for black.  Most people play 5...Qf6 in the first line and get confused after 6.Qf3.

Hi Olivier!
I just finished a game where , although I followed the main line of 2knights Defence ( Morozevitch-Onitchouk and Morozevitch-Nenatchev ) , I met a line quite spectacular , but not covered by any book or published analysis :
ICCF Thematic corr. (I had white )
1 e4 e5
2 Nf3 Nc6
3 Bc4 Nf6
4 Ng5 d5
5 exd5 Na5
6 Bb5+ c6
7 dxc6 bxc6
8 Be2 h6
9 Nf3 e4
10 Ne5 Bd6
11 d4 exd3
12 Nxd3 Qc7
13 b3 O-O
14 Bb2 Ne4
15 Nc3 f5
16 h3 Ba6
17 O-O Rad8
18 Qe1 Rfe8 (Here begin the novelties : I don't know whether last Black moe is new : it's quite natural , and must have been played before)
19 Nxe4 Rxe4
20 Qd1 c5
21 Bf3 c4
22 Bxe4 fxe4
23 Ne5 Ba3
24 Bd4 Bb2
25 c3 Bxc3
26 Bxc3 Rxd1
27 Rfxd1 cxb3
And my opponent proposed a draw , that I accepted
Why this line appears nowhere ( even to refute it )?
and was I right to agree the draw?
Friendly Yours
