i also watched this game live, it seems Volkov formed an inpenetrable fortress with his pieces for much of the game, until he panicked near the end.
To be fair, its not easy for him to find constructive moves with his king exposed.

The next Chess Informant, Number 94, will cover the games from June 1 through September 30, so it will be included in this next edition when it becomes available in December.

It was definitely a very nice game - Ivanchuk was on a roll at that point, although he slowed down a bit now (as I write this, though - I just realized he won the Casino Masters in Spain, so he hasn't slowed down too much).

My guess is that it'll do well in the best game voting, but not sure about whether it'll get 1st. What's the time frame for this next Informant?

Anyone think this great game by Ivanchuk will win a Chess Informant Best Game Prize?

Make sure you play through the great Ivanchuk-Volkov attacking game if you have interest in the ... gxf6 Burn. GM McDonald covers it in this months update. I watched it live and it was awesome! None of the titled kibitzers online thought Ivanchuk had anywhere near full compensation for the sacrificed piece.
