Well if the thread is hear we might as well use it so people dont have to dig one up on page 75. Ok thats a alight exageration but still. I am happy to see this from the black side here are my personal psychological thoughts.

1. Is white really that affraid of the french to play qe2
2.If hes not scared he certainly should rethink his system since black can either enter a sicilian wher the queen is on e2 rather early and may have trouble getting the type of position they want out of a sicilian. For instance say the same player plays a sozin or rauzer. After 2...c5 they are gonna be out of their book!

I dont see the point in blocking in oned bishop like that. But on the other hand i have respect for people who go for hte off beat and strange replies to openings. Like the opening considered in the theory as the Basque opening: 1.d4 Nf6 2.b3?!. I dont know why my people have this asscoiated with them but i wish they didnt. It is rather silly looking but somthing i might play our of pride of my blood and out of the little bit of larsen and Morozevich in me!

So If you like the resulting positions than play 2.Qe2 it will probley bring you a number of wins as it is not seen very often at any level.

Oh and speaking of Morozevich he has played your 2.Qe2 a couple of times.

Thanks Willempie -- got it! For some reason I'd never seen 'Search' (which on my screen is just above the list of threads, below notification of private messages). What a clot!

Oh and put on the options "match exact phrase", post made by "any poster" and put the maximum age of the post on say 200 days.
You get the found posts with the link to the entire thread above it.

Michael,
If you're in the search screen you can select the subject and/or message. It is below the threads selection.
So in this case I'd select french forum and only message. The best bet is to search on "2 Qe2" in this particular case.

Please note that you also have the search possibillity  Smiley

It is quite powerful as you can search for threads containing certain (one or several) words in the thread-header or the "body's" in one or several sub-forum's.

Anyway, it may not be in that thread. Look up Barua’s games in that line if you are interested.

Welcome to the Chess publishing forum!

There are several threads on this line already.  You may want to check them out first, and either contribute in one of them or refine your question.

The short answer is that 2.Qe2 doesn't solve White's problems, especially if Black plays either 2...Be7 or 2....c5!  But this "short answer" has been discussed in quite some depth in the other threads.

I hope you enjoy your stay here, it's been fun and edumactional for me!

Hello everybody !

I was just wandering : what about the Chigorin Variation against the French Defense ? (1.e4 e6 2. Qe2) I think it's quite good to control the center of the board, but is it really a good opening ?
