OK, point for you.

Ah, Lost Highway goes hunting for material again. Richard Réti already gave 6.Ng5 o-o 7.Bxf7+ Rxf7 8.Ne6 Qe8 9.Nxc7 Qd8 (personally I also like Qg6) 10.Nxa8 b5! 11.Nxb5 Qa5+ 12.Nc3 Nxe4 13.o-o Nxc3 -+.
This line is also known with 6.dxe5 dxe5 included: 7.Bxf7+ Kxf7 8.Ng5+ Kg8 9.Ne6 Qe8 10.Nxc7 Qg6 etc.
Lost Highway, you might learn something about the delicate balance between Time, Force and Material by working these variations out.

MNb –

You’re right.  Going after some loose material with 6.Ng5 doesn’t work for white.  6.O-O is safer.  By the way, regarding your comment about preferring 9...Qg6, can you explain how to move a queen from e8 to g6 even though there is a rook on f7?  Quite a trick!  You must win a lot of games by being able to jump your queen over obstructions.   Wink

Thanks, Mnb. Saves a lot of time (and money).
And now for something against that hybrid thing with Nc6 in stead of Nbd7....

That's right, plus, in line (b), 6.Ng5! just about knocks black out.

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 Nf6 4.Nc3 Nbd7
a) 5.Be2 Be7 6.o-o c6 7.a4 h6 (o-o) 8.Re1 Qc7 9.a5 Nf8 (a6 10.d5 o-o 11.Nd2) 10.d5! g5 (a6 11.Nd2) 11.a6.
b) 5.Bc4 Be7 6.o-o h6 7.a4 c6 8.Qe2 Qc7 9.Ba2!? Nf8 (o-o 10.h3) 10.d5 g5 11.Qc4 Rh7 12.Be3.
In all these lines White is at least slightly better.

What is the best setup to cope with this (rather tame) beast?
