Bronstein-Steiner Slav: 5. a4 Bg4!?

5... Bg4 might well be renamed the Chinese Slav since as far as i know they are probably the only 2600s playing it nowadays (see following two games from World Team Championship). Every source i've read criticises this system heavily, but looking at the lines it doesn't look like such a disaster for Black.

The first game illustrates everything that can go wrong for White in the Open Slav (poor Kaidanov must have forgotten his theory!), while the second has the critical look.
