Yes, especially with all these "1.e4 e5 2.e4!" posts, it's indeed difficult to follow a discussion...

Chessflash automatically creates the html-code with the flash viewer when you paste the pgn. No need to install anything.

Here's an example of how it looks, note that it's possible to start with a position too.

Kf3 Kg6 2. Ke2 Bg3 3. Hi Tony,
did you already have a look?

Yes, I had a look, there seems to be a page where you can enter the PGN code, but I don't see how this could be useful to the Forum. Maybe there is a plug-in or something, but I didn't see it.
I'm happy to play through the PGN games in my head, it's good practice! Wink

I'll have a look at this, but presumably we would need to allow Javascript, or some other program to run, which would raise security problems? Undecided

Hi Tony,
did you already have a look? The PGN viewer is used in a german chess forum, and is really helpful, because you can play through some of the lines.

Great for all who don´t have chess engines installed on all their computers, (that´s me and perhaps somebody else).

If you try, you may lose. If you don´t try, you have lost.

I think Flash is a programming language in itself, usually used for playing media or create animations, but maybe js or similar is required, I dunno.

The one to ask is probably the guy behind chessflash, here you can find his email: http://chessflash.com/node/1

Any chance the forum could handle the free flash pgn viewer chessflash.com ?

It's already being used by some bloggers out there - basically you just copy and paste the pgn text and make some decisions on how it should be presented. And then it's automatically converted to be displayed on the web.

I tried to test it in the general chess section, but I suppose there's some setting that must be changed for it to work on the forum.

So, Tony, do you think this could be worth testing?

2 games. Koneru versus Smeets. From 2006.
It works. Smiley

So, don't be afraid to use PGN attachments. No viruses!

Tony, just one question for clarification. I presume you are mostly referring to complete games and especially more than one game?

Yes, just complete games (especially long ones!) Smiley

Is there a FAQ for doing this and other "nuts&bolts" forum stuff?

When you reply to a message there should be a box underneath the smilies with 'Attach:' written on the left and 'Browse...' on the right. Wink
You should also have a 'Help' tab above, to the right of 'Home' which is worth reading (I plan to read it myself one day ...!) Smiley

Cool, now once I figure out how to actually do this I can put forth something I have been looking at in the symmetrical English....

Is there a FAQ for doing this and other "nuts&bolts" forum stuff?

Thanks for any answers/advice and apologies for any density displayed.
