Quote:"Zoom 001" is a strange title isnt it?
As far as I can see there is no explanation of the title in the book.
Ok, "Zoom" may be explained.... but "001" is a mystery to me....
Anyone have a clue?

Models vol. 1
by Bent Larsen / Steffen Zeuthen, 364 pages
Dansk Skakforlag, Kopenhagen 1979
It´s not about opening variations but about middlegame structure,
maybe comparable with Baburin´s "Winnng pawn structures" (about IQP)
or Suba´s "Dynamic chess stategy" (about hedgehog).
Zoom 001 is about d-pawn double push plus kingside fianchetto
(Catalan, symmetrical English, Grünfeld, Alekhine-Alburt, Nf6-Scandinavian,...)
I´ve heard a rumour that this volume one was well received and much praised
those days but publishing was a financial desaster as Larsen´s fee was too high!?
So the publisher decided to stop the serie after volume one.

PS: And as this book is about structures and not about variations it is still
a good choice for Alekhine players even as it´s only about 4Nf3 g6 (Alburt).
But 4.. dxe5 5Nxe5 g6 (Kengis) or 4.. c6 (followed by g6; Miles) is the same.
Subas Dynamic chess strategy is not limited to discussing the hedgehog, but rather focuses on some modern aspects of chess strategy, in particular the dynamic potential of the pieces (iirc). He has also written a book which was called simply "The Hedgehog" and was dedicated to this particular opening setup.
I have only read the strategy-book which is both inspiring and interesting. I think that he is touching upon factors there that could explain why engines still today have huge problems in evaluating certain types of positions.
