14.Be3 or even 13.Be3 is more popular than the Bh4 idea. In his book "Challenging the Grünfeld" Dearing gives line a to be equal (Horvath-Groszpeter, Hungary 2000) and a white advantage in line b (Shulman-Votava, Pardubice 1999). He also gives 14...Rd8 to be unclear after improvements (16...e6 or 16...Nd7) on Anand-Illescas Cordoba, Madrid 1998.

Don't check me with no lightweight stuff.

In the Gruenfeld exchange variation after
7.Nf3 c5 8.Rb1 0-0 9.Be2 cxd4 10.cxd4 Qa5+ 11.Bd2 Qxa2 12.0-0 Bg4 13.Bg5 h6
the move 14Bh4!? is not covered by Chess Publishing.

Which is the correct plan now for Black?

a) 14...a5 15.Rxb7 g5 16.Bg3 a4
b) 14...g5 15.Bg3 Nc6

Looking at strong GM games this variation (14.Bh4!?) seemed to be played from 1998 till 2001 and then it disappeared.  Is there any reason for that?

I don't know if this helps, but NCO recommends 14...Qe6 and the main recommendation goes 15.h3 Nxf3 16.Bxf3 Qd7 17.d5 Ne5 18.Bg4 Qd6 19.Rxb7 g5 20.Bg3 Bxg3 21.fxg3 a5 with unclear play.

I have no idea if this line is outdated or not since the NCO was written a while back and there were some lines in the Grunfeld in NCO that actually became obsolete now.
