very true which is one of the reasons I play something that transposes into a classical a lot of the time. I dont want to learn a lot of moves in the Yugoslav when I can play a game where im literally learning with every game that goes along. I havent plugged this position into chess live I jsut use every game i play as a theoretical contribution.

Its nice to figure things out by your self every once in a while. Thats what made Tal so formidable in his early years! The theory was in its infancy! And so each new sacrifice had to be figured out at the board!

I think both sides has good options in the line, the position is completly equal and neither side needs to know theory by heart.

After black plays somthing like Nb3 we transpose into a classical where martin in his starting out book says white has plenty of good chances. I was forced to play that line once and I did win agains higher opposistion.

I am also looking at perhaps gambiting the B pawn if they play an early Qb6. ala poisong pawn style.

When faced this line my self (4 games) I have a 100% score whit black with 7 Be2 0-0. True this was against weaker opponents who tried full frontal assaults (sometimes not even castling).

I dont see any point whit this move order since black can delay 0-0 and play 7 Be2 Nc6 (recommended by Fritz 9 opening book) when white has to do something about hes knight. Retreating the knight to b3 leeds to a harmless line where black has lots of good options.

So the local club has two dragon players plus me with my dragondorf. We only have one most of the year because the other goes to school in another city. So knowing he was coming back I decided to do some home preparation. And whats interesting with out a computer to aid me. Not because I dont have one but because I really wanted to work on it by myself.

My line Starts: 1.e4 c5 2.nf3 d6 3.d4 cd 4.nxd4 nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Bg5!?

this was recomended by Martin in an article once but I deviate from the martin line.

6...Bg7 7.Be2

This is the starting position of my line. I have found that it often transposes into a line in the classical after looking at my friends starting out book but I try not to keep it there. My ideas are to kingside castle, put the king on h1,play an early f4,followed by either e5 or f5 ripping open the position. So far at the club it has worked rather well no loses in the club time controll of game in 28...dont ask lol. When i dont play my Bg5 setup I play a levenfish. I just like aggressive setups. I suppose.

I would appreciate your feed back
