The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Maybe one of the best lines is an inverted Ruy Lopez :
1 e4 e5
2 Nc3 Nf6
3 Bc4 Bb4
4 d3 c6
And I think Black should equalize rather easily

Is there a way to play for a win from the black side against the vienna/bishop op. ?
What is your favorite set up after :
1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.f4 d5 4.fxe Nxe 5.Nf3 and now, Be7 or Bc5 or something else ?
1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 and now, Nxe4, Nc6 or something else.
1.e4 e5 2.Bc4 Nf6 3.d3 and now c6, Nc6 or something else ?

Dynamic inequality is sometimes hard to come by after 1...e5.  If you want to win with this move, one of the things that you hope for is that White will play too slowly, allowing you to assume the role of White.  Or else try to find a challenging ending and hope to out-technique your opponent.

In my view the strongest line against the Vienna/Bishops is to put the knights on KB3 and QB3 and the bishop on QB5.  Then play chess.  But even then, it will be difficult to produce the full point if White plays solidly enough.  Winning is hard enough with White, you know?

Always want dynamic inequality?  Play the Sicilian or Alekhine's.

1.e4 e5 2.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 Nxe4 is not a good way to play for a win: 4.Qh5 Nd6
a)5.Bb3 Be7 6.Nf3 Nc6 and Black has nothing to fear.
b)5.Qxe5+ Qe7 6.Qxe7+ Bxe7 and White has nothing to fear.

There is an excellent book (really) : Play the open game as black by john Emms
I have not the book with me so by memory:
    4.fe5 Ne4 5.Nf3 Bc5 less théory and more active
   3.Nc3 Nf6 3.Bc4 Nc6  solid and less complications
    2.Bc4 Nf6 3.d3 Nc6 with a possible transposition in the two knights (4.Nf3 Be7!?)

Eternity it's very long especially towards the end!

I play 2...Nc6 myself
it gives Black more options if White decides to play small with 3 g3
