You're not confusing it with the ...Kf8 MacCutcheon?

Ah yes, my mistake. I knew there was a reason I hadnt played through it yet Grin

And is the conclusion that it seems perfectly playable at the moment?

system is made of b6 for Black as some stage in the Winawer with Kf8.

My recorded lines after (1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nc3 Bb4 4.e5 c5 5.a3 Bxc3+ 6.bxc3 Ne7 7.Qg4 Kf8):

A) 8.Bd2! Qa5 (8...b6 9.Bd3 Apicella-Legky,Saint Quentin en Yvelines 2003 (EE Juin 2003) ; 8...Qc7 9.Bd3!? Kristjansson's idea Ularfsson-Johannesson,2002  and Timmann-Nikolic,Pula 1997 : search in chesspublishing's updates or 9.Rc1 Polgar-Nikolic,Linares 1997) and now:

A1) 9.Bd3 Qa5 10.c4!? (10.Kd1 unclear; 10.Qh5 unclear Polgar-Drasko,Berlin 1989 (Short) ; 10.Ra2?! c4!? Dom with the idea Qb5 or 10...b6 11.Nf3 transposes to Balashov-Eingorn,Minsk 1983 (Psakhis) and Stisis-McDonald,Londres1991 ) dxc4 11.dxc5 Bd7!

A2) 9.Nf3 Qa4 (9.... Qb6 10.Bd3 c4 11.Be2 Qb2 12.oo Qxc2 unclear) 10.Be2 (10.Ra2 b6 transposes to Eingorn's games: Sokolov-Eingorn,URSS Moscou1988 (Psakhis) and Ernst-Eingorn,Tallinn 1989 (Psakhis et ECO Korchnoi) and Balashov-Eingorn,Minsk 1983 (Psakhis) and Stisis-McDonald,Londres1991) b6 (10..Qxc2!? = ) 11.Ng5 Veilimoriv-Eingorn,Bor 1985 (ECO Korchnoi)

A3) 9.h4 transposes Qa5 10.Rh3! (10.h5!? Hubner-Nikolic,Munich 1990 (ECO Korchnoi) ; 10.Ra2 unclear ; 10.Kd1 Nbc6 11.Nf3 cxd4! 12.cxd4 Nf5 ) Videki-Vareille,Toulouse 1995 (McDonald) . All the line is interesting to view with Kasparov's gambit in mind.

B) 8.Qd1!? Qa5 (8...b6 Kindermann-Eingorn,Debrecen 1989 (Psakhis) or Rogers-Chernin,Londres 1989 ) 9.Bd2 Qa4 (9...cxd4 Ziatdinov-Levitt,Dublin 1991 (Psakhis))  10.Nf3 transposes b6 11.c4 Ba6! (11....dxc4?! Jovicic ; alternatives 11...cxd4 and 11..Nbc6 are not so good for Black) Ziatdinov-Levitt,Dublin 1991 (Psakhis)

C) 8.a4!? b6!? (8..Qc7 Ivanchuk-Nikolic,Reykjavik 1991 (Psakhis)) 9.Nf3 (9.Bb5!? ; 9.h4 Qc7 Smirin-Eingorn,Metz 1991) Smirin-Eingorn,URSS 1990 (Psakhis)

D) 8.Bd3 b6 (8...Qa5 9.Bd2 Qa4 see above) 9.Nf3 Ba6 Vogt-Mohr,Bad Lauterberg 1991 (ECO Kortchnoi) and J.Polgar-Lars Bo Hansen,Vejstrup 1989 (Z.Polgar)  or 8...Nbc6 and maybe transposition

E) 8.Nf3 Nbc6 (8...Qa5 9.Bd2 see above ; 8...b6 9.a4 see above: Smirin-Eingorn,URSS 1990 (Psakhis)) 9.a4 (9.Bd3 Qa5 10.Bd2 Qa4 11.Qh5) Qc7 Tal-Gunsberger,Varna 1962 (ECO Korchnoi)

F) 8.h4 b6 (8....Qa5 see above ; 8...Qc7!? Nikolic's novelty vs Kasparov in 1994 9.Qd1! b6 ) 9.h5 (9.Rh3 Foragasi-Naumkin,Budapest 1991 (ECO Kortchnoi) ; 9.Nf3 Borkowski-Naumkin,Moscou 1991 (ECO Korchnoi) ; 9.Qd1 Nbc6 10.Nf3 ) h6

Is anybody still playing this? If not, why not? Where can any examination of this line be found?
