Personnally I didn't find anything new in Bronznik book  that Smith & Hall,   Lane or ......Koltanoski's  himself didn't cover...

The problem with the Colle Koltanowski has always been IMO ....

1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 g6! 4.Bd3 Nbd7 5.0-0 c5 6.c3 Bg7 7.Nbd2 0-0  this line is practically a refutation and it is also easy to play as black.

An early b4 doesn't cut it, and accelerated e4 doesn't do it either, about the only line that I found that gives me gives wiggle room for varied play.... is a reversed Catalan line that goes by

1.d4 d5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3.e3 c5 4.c3 Nbd7 5.Be2 g6 6.Nbd2 Bg7 7.b3 0-0 8.Bb2 Qc7 9.0-0   It can have a nice spring board effect  (still I don't think its an opening advanatage..if black plays correctly.... yet I also don't think people who play this line as black play the  Catalan either.

Yep, I agree with myself. Get Bronznik. Never buy anything by Lane unless there's no alternative, would be my motto.

There are books by Gary Lane (Ultimate Colle) and Valery Bronznik (The Colle-Koltanowski System.
Deceptive Peace behind the Stonework).

I enjoyed Lane's book, but others are more sceptical (incl John Cox in the recent thread on Colle-Zuckertort-books). I guess it partly depends on what level you are on. If you are a normal club player (ELO under say 1900), then Lane's book should be adequate. It's a good read, but perhaps a bit optimistic on white's behalf.

I haven't read Bronznik's book, but believe it was well received.

If you can wait, Richard Palliser is publishing a Starting Out-book on the Colle in 2007. Should be good!

PS Karadas, aren't you busy with others things on a saturday afternoon?  Wink
