HgMan,

You might want to get your hands on Dunnington's Attacking with 1. d4.   While many parts of his recommneded  1d4 repertoire has holes in it, his coverage of 3. e4 in the QGA accepted is first rate IMHPO.

Hello,

Yes, Inn2 is probably right that 3... c5 has had it's day in the sun, but with 3...b5 apparantly playable who knows. The Gelfand - Anand game is fully annotated in Anand's best games book.
For an agressive try against 3.e4, Semko has strongly supported 3...Nc6. After playing through Smyslov v Semko, which I recently found in Smyslov best games vol 2 book, would wonder why. Guess chess players have to be tough, also he found improvements to this game, which he has included in QGA book.

dunnington likes 6. Bf4 Qa5 7.f3, while i still don't see what's wrong with 7. Bd2 when Shirov-Kramnik Linares 93 was fantastic and presumably sufficient deterrence?!  Shocked

This line is busted according to most of my sources (Sakaev, Dunnington). I haven't  seen what Raetsky has to say in his new QGA book, but i doubt the evaluation will change.
Furthermore there is a strong piece sac with 6. e5 b4 7. Nb5 a6 8. Bxc4 axb5 9. Bxb5+ Bd7 10. Bc4 covered in Ruslan's recent update which i play.  Smiley

Witness, for example, this stunning effort by Anand. Gelfand apparently claimed that 9...Nb4! was one of the best novelties he had ever had to face.

At Linares in 1993, a whole batch of top level games went: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.e4 c5 4.d5 Nf6 5.Nc3 b5 6.Bf4 Qa5.

Is this line still worth trotting out? Does it have any merit or surprise value? I don't see any immediate weaknesses or refutations...
