As is usual with these sharp positions, much depends on the specifics. But in addition to the methods of attack that you mention, Black should be on the look-out for a favorable ...d5, usually achieved with the moves ...Qc7, ...b5 (-...b4), ...Bb7 and ...Kte5.

Thanks. So I should delay castling, and play for an attack! Smiley Should I play Qa5 followed by a sac on c3, or Qc7 followed bypushing the pawns?

I wouldn't consider that to be a problem. I'm sure that there are many Najdorf players here who would kill for an extra tempo against the English Attack.

It's basically an English Attack (1. e4 c5 ; 2. Ktf3 d6 ; 3. d4 cd ; 4. Ktxd4 Ktf6 ; 5. Ktc3 a6 ; 6. Be3 (or 6. f3) e6 with the extra move ...h6 for Black. This will come in useful for him after White's inevitable g4 thrust, but of course, he must forget about castling for the forseable future. Since I don't play this with either colour, and tactics abound, I can't give any specific variations but any relatively recent book on the Najdorf will supply you with sufficient theory to play the positions a tempo up. The strategies for both sides are quite clear : relentlessly hack your way towards the opposite King. Anyway, this is the reason why 10. f4 is normally played.

Patience, it is holiday season, so most chess players are forced out of their own little corner and act social.
In the meantime you could do worse then check out some games by Yermolinsky as he is a bit of a classical expert on the black side.

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.
