Why not simply 'Queen's Pawn Games', as everybody else does ?

How about Dodgy d pawn openings !!
Or Dynamic d4 openings !
Or Dubious d4 openings !
Or to quote NCO 'Unusual Queens pawn openings'
Or the 'Dustbin' of d4 openings because this is the twilight zone section where everything is covered that isn't already subject to a separate section on 1d4.
Or 1d4 without 2 c4
Or 1d4 off the beaten track.

Take your pick and hats off to Eric for his first rate section. Personally I think Dynamic 1d4 has a good ring to it for marketing purposes !!

I think the current name fits quite well, since one has to be somewhat 'special' to play some of these d-Pawn openings. Hey, there is even a special olympics after all.

Tony's right.   Wink  'd-pawn deviants' is not really a name that's gonna sell a lot of subscriptions, it's mainly just for a good chuckle.  Grin How about 'd-pawn distractions'? or 'd-pawn devolution'? Nah, those suck, too.  Tongue

I guess we'll have to just stick with 'd-pawn specials.'  It's kinda like when you go to the store and buy a bag of chips (crisps):  2/3 of the bag is just full of air!  So Eric P's excellent explanations and superb analyses are like the yummy chips (crisps) at the bottom, the flashy large package is like the "special" advertisement, and the value of most of the systems is like the massive amount of air inside... Cheesy  And guess what? We're all addicted to the product! Ah, consumerism at its best... Smiley

I wonder what sort of clientele we'd attract with a section name like 'd-pawn deviants'?! Shocked

Grin LOL!

anyway i think d4 -deviations (john cox) is best. It is err.. more family-friendly than d-pawn "deviants", and more appropriate than d-pawn specials since there is really nothing "special" about the BDG and Veresov!

I just think that there's nothing "special" about many of the lines here.

How about "d-Pawn Deviants"? Sounds naughty.  Like you were supposed to play c4 but you wanted to rebel.

Thanks to John Cox and Everyman for the relative of this idea, "deviations".
