7.Ndb5 Nd4 8. Ne4 O-O 9.c4 Nb4 10. a3 N4c6 11. b4 Be7 12. Bb2 a5 13. Nf6+ Kh8 14. Qd3 gxf6 15. exf6 Bxb4+ 16. axb4 according to Chessbase Opening Encyclopedia 2006.  However, Fritz 10 puts that squarely white up by more than a pawn.

Best,

Fred

No fritz at hand, but doesnt 9.. Ne3 defend?
eg 9..Ne3 10.Qd6 Nd5. I agree that it is no picnic, but I dont see a win for white:
11.Qxb6 Bxb6
11.Nxd5 Qxb5+ 12.Kxf2 Qxd5

I may have missed something (if so prolly something very basic) though.

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

i saw the variation that T. kosten suggests but checking it with fritz 10 i discovered that after 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 e6 3. d4 cd 4. Nd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 Qb6 6. e5 Bc5! 7. Ndb5! (from the fritz 10 database) B:f2+?! 8. Ke2 Ng4 9. h3 N:e5 10. Qd6! +- white is winning!
Is there something else to keep the var. alive?

I found another game where black refrained from taking on f2 (B:f2+?) but also after 7...Nd5 8. Ne4! white is much better.
