Yes  Smiley  but it's still good to have it confirmed for definite that I made the right move, it wasn't just that my opponent missed a better continuation.

Yeah it is a bit scary when encountering it for the first time. You kick yourseld and think "What did I miss this time", before calming down and noticing you are just in a good position

That's good to hear. I was a bit taken aback by the move when I first encountered it but after some thought I realised 6...0-0 wasn't so bad and in a few more moves I had a comfortable position. Thank you for the help!!

Not much as it is bad after 6..0-0. Whenever white is not threatening something you play ..h6 Nxf7 Rxf7 Bxf7 Kxf7 getting 2 minor pieces for pawn and rook, which is usually enough to win. I encountered this numerous times when I played in the youth and netted me several easy wins as black.

Apart from the fork trick, the symmetrical Giuoco is also easy (if boring) equality. Though if you play the Petrov this may not troubleyou too much Wink:
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nf6 3. Nc3 Nc6 4. Bc4 Bc5 5.d3 d6 Now you have basicly 2 lines 
-6.Be3 is the most boring option. Whatever you do as black dont exchange on e3 as it opens the f-file, otherwise no problems after say 6..Bb6 or even 6..Na5
-6. Bg5 the Canal variation in which you have 2 equal options. 6..Na5 equalises on the spot, but is a bit boring. 6..h6 7.Bxf6 Qxf6 is the main line. You can score many points against unsuspecting whites with 8.Nd5 Qg6! (theory completely underestimates this move and recommends Qd8 but that will give you a very annoying position).

Welcome. 4.Bc4 Nxe4!
a) 5.Nxe4 d5 6.Bd3 (6.Bb5 dxe4 7.Nxe5 Qg5!) dxe4 7.Bxe4 Bd6 8.d4 (slightly better 8.0-0 0-0 9.Re1) exd4 9.Bxc6+ bxc6 10.Qxd4 0-0 11.0-0 Re8 12.b3 c5 followed by Re8-e6-g6 =+ Sozin-Rabinovitsj, Moscow 1928.
b) 5.Bxf7+ Kxf7 6.Nxe4 d5! 7.Neg5+ Kg8 8.d3 h6 =+. Black's centre and pair of bishops is more important than the passive rook on h8.

This is all you need to know, to get good results after 4...Nxe4!

Hi, new member here.

This has happened to me a couple of times now. After the move order 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. Nc3 I play Nc6, and then after 4. Bc4 I don't know what to play other than Bc5, and usually I get 5. d3 and then I'm stuck for a good choice. Or would it have been better to break this sequence earlier on? I play 2...Nf6 because I don't like playing the black side of the Spanish.
