Hello everyone,
Sifting thru the threads I’ve noticed there seems to be quite a bit of interest in the King’s gambit. It also appears that many of you have played this for a while and even teach it to your students. I was wondering if there was a thread for those of us just starting out with the KG explaining the themes or ideas of the opening or the things to watch out for if the opponent plays non-book moves. Do any of you KG’ers have any notes/write-ups/pamphlets on the KG that you’d share with us patzers just starting out? I’m thinking about purchasing the Fascinating KG but would like something else for now so I can get used to the basics before I shell out big bucks for the book (sorry Thomas).
Well, the best advice for a KG newbie would probably be to go through some commented KG games - but apart from specialised books on the KG I'm not so sure where to find them.
Best of e.g. Bronstein and Spassky should have some and also the oldtimers like Tschigorin, Marshall, Spielmann, Tartakower are likely to give a few KG among their best games, check your local library...
Danielsen talked me into making some videos for 'videochess', which would've contained some games and tips on the KG and RG...
But it's a week ago since I ordered the necessary program for recording one's screen from
www.video-capture.info - but maybe it's some kind of internet scam, as they haven't emailed me the (considerably overpriced!) 1 MB program yet and they don't reply when you write to them...
Anyone who knows of any alternative program for windows that would allow one to record the screen?
