From my notes (unfortunately I have no games to show you):

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Be2 e5 7.Nf5 d5! {aiming for d4!}

Yes. this is probably best here. In these type of setups, black MUST go for the d5 break as soon as the opportunity to do so arises. Otherwise he just get very cramped up. In the 6.Be2 e5 Najdorf, the d5 and b5 breaks are imperative.

Hello,

I think a line like 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.f4 Nbd7 7.Be2 e5 8.Nf5  is the only case, where Nf5 is at all worrying. (Even here, black is probably ok). Otherwise, d5 will give an easy game, like chk suggests.

1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Be2 e5 7.Nf5 d5! {aiming for d4!}

8.Bg5 d4! {8.Ng3 d4! and 9. ... Nc6}

9.Bxf6 Qxf6 10.Nd5 Qd8 11.c4!? Nc6 12.O-O g6 13.Ng3 h5!? =+

My opinion about all similar Najdorf lines (e.g. Be2/Be3) is that they are not drawish and that much attention should be paid by both players at least until late middlegame.

Hope that helps..

6)Be2 Najdorf with 7)Nf5

A little while back I posted a topic on my issues with the Sicilian as white. SInce that time I came across some Najdorf works that I decided to buy into and see what I could learn. Well I must admit I have a burning passion for the Najdorf now! Yes, it is complex but the positions derived from it are very interesting. So I'M now working on retooling my response to e4 to incorperate the Najdorf. This will take awile as much study is required but it is very interesting study! Currently I have worked through several 6)Be2 lines and I'M trying to master these lines since it seems this variation is key to understanding the Najdorf as a whole.

During the study of 6)Be2 I came across a few games where white responds 7)Nf5... This seems like a rather annoying move but the games I have on this line are not the greatest to learn from as to how to deal with this rather unusual reply. What is the current state of theory on 7)Nf5? Drawish?
