Your opinion is surely OK but, if my recomendation is correct ( equality not  better for W.), 14.., Nc4 can be an usefull surprise.

I don't have an specific recommendations in that line.  But my opinion is that Black is behind the 8-ball with 3...exd4 and should consider 3...Nxe4 instead.  This was tried so many times in the 60s and 70s, and pretty much found wanting.  Am I wrong?

Might as well play Philidor's.

Hi to All.

Reading the Jamigava's book "The PETROFF" I've analised this variation:

4. e5, Ne4  5. Qxd4,d5  6. exd6, Nxd6  7. Nc3, Nc6  8. Qf4, Bf5  9. Bb5! Qe7+  10. Kf1, Be4  11. Bxc6+, Bxc6  12. Ne5

Normal is 12.  ... ,O-O-O

In the note I read:

12..., Qe6? 13. Nxc6. bxc6 14. Qf3. Qd7  15. N a4 beter for W.

But what about 14..., Nc4?

After 14. b3, O-O-O I think B. can defend this position.

Do You have some suggestions?

Thanks
