Yes, I remember the time that Botwinnik/Estrin (1st impression) was the highest wisdom on the Grunfeld, and the Nf3 exchange was considered harmless and meritted only a footnote Smiley.

Finally I found some 30-odd games played by Yelena Dembo as black in the period 200-2002, though only 2 wins and quite a few losses. During this time her rating was much lower than it was now. Apperently she soon afterwards changed her repertoire. So I will wait for the reviews, but frankly I don't expect a high quality book like "Play the Kings Indian".

Now that does make me feel old. 7 Bc4 'fashionable', forsooth! When I started to play chess this had been the main line for as long as the opening was known. Now it's 'fashionable'.

O tempora.

This is a repertoire book from black's point of view:

http://www.everymanbooks.com/display.php?id=432

Everyman claims "written by a renowned expert"

I do object to this kind of advertisement. As I stated before Yelena Dembo hasnt played a game with the grunfeld in the last 2.5-3 years, neither as black or white (white: 1.e4 ;black: Kings-Indian).
IMHO a renowned expert is someone who plays an opening at a fairly high level (OTB or correspondence), and has contributed to the theory of that opening with significant novelties and whose analysis is on public record (in magazines and/or commented games).
For instance: Joe Gallagher might be considered a renowned expert on the Kings-Indian.

Chapters 6 and 14 seem interesting to me. Does someone know wheather these chapters include enough informations or were made just to have a "complete" (exhaustive) book?

Yusupov once said that “The problem with the Dutch Defence is that later in many positions the best move would be ...f5-f7” but he is surely wrong.

I must admit I am a little surprised. I could think of several strong masters who could write a new book on the grunfeld, but Dembo was not on my list. Unless I am mistaken her openingsrepertoire doesnt include the grunfeld at all, in the past few years.
She plays the Kings-Indian as black, and she is an e4-player as white.
I think it is a serious handicap when an author hasnt hands on experience with an opening.

Looks good Smiley.

One point of note "4 The Fashionable 7 Bc4 " I feel proud that I played it when it was out of fashion  Grin. Of course I lost miserably with it, but whatever.
