Take a look at these variations:

7...Be6 8.f3 h5!?
7...Be6 8.f3 Be7 (Nbd7 9.g4 and you need to know a lot of theory...) 9.Qd2 0-0 (9...h5!?) 10.0-0-0 (10.g4?! d5!) a5!? I know it looks strange, but it's actually not that stupid! It requires some serious analysis though.

Personally I prefer 6...e6 after playing 6...e5 for a while Tongue.

Well, I do not expect a "perfect answer" to my question, e.g. a line for black that leads to complete equality in all variations, instead I just hope for some interesting suggestions how one could play with black. Then, I can analyse this and decide if I will play it or not.

Yes, I'm afraid that there's really no good answer to your question because the Najdorf is so broad and changes so quickly. I've got most of the recent books and would agree that if you're looking for concrete analysis and a strong repertoire, "The Sharpest Sicilian" is your best bet. Do a search, I had a few posts a month ago talking about move orders that might help you out.

But for the Najdorf, you'll need a good book, a good memory, and a current database.

The Georgiev book is excellent. I'll check the exact variation they give.
Also Palliser's book is good, but doesnt give any definitive lines (it's a starting out book after all). But he gives some food for thought on various h5-lines for example

If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.

Well, so far I mainly focused on the line 7...Be6 8.f3 Be7 9.Qd2 0-0 10.0-0-0 a5 for black, one of the lines which are popular at the moment. Black directly tries to attack, so in principle I like that move.
My problem was that I failed to find a good plan for black after the simple 11.a4 Nc6 12.g4 Nb4 13.Kb1 even though nowdays 11.a4 is considered to be not critical any longer.
But why ?
It would be nice if somebody can help  Embarrassed
Otherwise I would have to search for a different variation  Undecided

Advice

buy the main Najdorf books:
Arizmendi, Moreno
Golev, Georgiev
Palliser

and check what they advise.

Perhaps also buy Sammalvuo on the English attack.

When you buy those, read and ponder, then come back for further discussion.

Also - suggest you spread yourself less thin. Focus more on a narrower repertoire.

searching for a variation for black in the najdorf

Hi !

Im searching for a new variation in the najdorf for black after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Be3 e5 7.Nb3 (for OTB chess)  Undecided
(in general I prefer concrete variations and positions where my attacking chances are not worse than the opponents'.)
Im playing many openings with black (berlin defence,french,caro-kann,some sicilians) and I intend to include a najdorf line in case I have to play for a win.

Any suggestions are welcome.
