hello,I've  recently started to play this line as black and I have some success. This is: 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 and here I go 5...Nxd5!?(I've observed that this rather rare line make some suprise for a lot of my opponents.)White now launches the Fried Liver Attack (6.Nxf7), or the labyrinthine Lolli Attack (6.d4,which i don't analyse here), with spectacular play in both cases.  Grin I'm thinking that White has to play with precision to hope for any advantage at all!
Hmm after 6.Nxf7 Kxf7 7.Qf3 Ke6 8. Nc3 Ncb4 9.Qe4(9. Bb3 c6!? 10.a3 Na6 11.d4 exd4! 12.Nxd5 cxd5 13.0-0 Kd7! 14.Qxd5+Kc7!(now king is safe!)15.Bf4+ Bd6,and Black has one piece more!with some chances to fight for win.)9...b5!?10.Bb3 c6!?11.0-0 Bb7 12.a3 Na6 13.d4 Qf6!?14.Re1(or.14 f4!? Qf5!? 15.Qe2 e4 16.Nxe4 Kd7 17.g4 Qf7 and black is at least equal)14...Qf5! 15.Qe2 Nc7 16.Bxd5 cxd5 17.Bxb5 Kd7! and again Black is at least equal.
I like this position very much as black, because it is very ,very sharp, and in spite of Black King in the middle of board ,It's immunity!;]What do You think about this sharp lines?Smiley

Yes, but as Bibs points out, Lolli's move is the critical one.  There was some hope back in the 90s that that would hold up, based on an interesting postal game.  But my understanding is that the current judgement is that it's bad for Black.

Frankly, not much at all.
Lolli, 6d4, has been known to be a refutation of Nd5? for donkeys years. Renders any fried liver malarckey irrelevant. Could  this have been checked in any basic opening text perhaps?  Huh

If players want 'fun' lines, suggest Fritz/Ulvestad.

Easy does it with new posters, Bibs, at least when they bring specific chess ideas and a good will.
