How long does it usually take for Chess Publishing support to answer e-mails? It's been (just) a couple of days since I sent them an e-mail but I'd really like to start working on my opening repertoire and would thus like to get my account opened.

It turns out that:

There was a nasty problem that came up over the weekend with the software used to do the spam filtering.  That was scoring some messages too highly and possibly causing temporary rejections when it shouldn't have been.

So, everything became 'spam'!

I hope it's solved now Smiley

Btw, if it was easier to pay with PayPal I guess people would be queueing to do so at the moment, given the current exchange rate!

I got basically the same problem - tried to subscribe (as I've got pounds activated on my PayPal account) but it seems I have to change my username here?

"The username you chose is already in use on the system. Please choose another and try again."

I wrote to support but later got a message back that gmail will try to deliver it for two more days.

So I'd recommend you get a new email asap, god knows how much business Cpub has lost over this up to now. - If you write to an internet company and the letter bounces most people would think it's a scam of some sort or at least not very dependable...

Why not simply get a gmail account? - or better still have gmail host your email, that way you can keep the domain name in the address.

We have our own server and email accounts, of course, we can't rely on things like gmail, but it seems that there has been some delivery problems this last couple of days - I will email our systems admin guy.
You shouldn't have to change your username, if you try logging in and your account has expired it will take to the resubscribe page and then on to the payment page. Smiley

Hello.

I would really like to subscribe to the ChessPublishing website. But the only payment method available for me is PayPal. And that's okay. But your website says that whenever one subscribes using PayPal, he/she should send a seperate email with name, desired login etc. The problem is that i cannot send you an email from this computer since the IP adress is marked for spamming. I tried signing up to the forum which didn't work either (at first) since i had to send an email for that as well. Then i came across a YaBB? link on someone's website which did allow me to sign up to the forum without sending any email or whatever. And i thought that maybe someone could help me get subscribed to the ChessPublishing website through the forum.

I really want to get subscribed so any help is welcome.

Yes, I think it might be our problem that dates back to when the server was hacked and sent out loads of junkmail, I will be changing the IP soon to avoid this problem. Actually, I have a personal IP address that changes every day and I often have the same problem - if more and more IP addresses are being used by spammers, and more and more IP addresses get bannned, then eventually there will be none left! Undecided

And i cannot contact them. I was thinking maybe i could get in touch with ChessPub's support through the forum or something.

Ah, right. You could try a Personal Message (PM) on this site to GMTonyKosten?
http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?action=viewprofile;username=GMTony...

edit: the reason I mentioned paypal was because I thought that maybe your email address needed to match the one on paypal. But I could be wrong. Which still leaves the question why you don't create another email address somewhere else? Or does the IP-spam-ban on your computer prevent that as well?

Well, adding an email adress to my PayPal account won't solve the problem, will it? The problem is i cannot send an email to ChessPublishing support. Something i need to do when subscribing via PayPal. here's what the website says;

Quote:
If you wish to pay by PayPal instead (direct fund transfer only) please send the correct money to paypal@chesspublishing.com, plus a separate email to support@chesspublishing.com listing your name, country, preferred username and password. For Paypal using a credit card, or any other form of payment, please contact support@chesspublishing.com.

And i cannot contact them. I was thinking maybe i could get in touch with ChessPub's support through the forum or something.

I think you are for real  Wink see http://tcoem.wordpress.com/ (that is your blog, right?) Please tone it down. Your request is a bit strange and you can't be too careful on the Internet. Why don't you create another email address somewhere and add it to your paypal account? (you can have multiple email addresses there) Otherwise, what kind of help do you expect from us?
