Well it doesn't overly affect me, since I'm not a subscriber to ChessPublishing, but I think a game between two Grandmasters certainly wouldn't hurt.

Thanks for the comments guys, but back to the original point of the thread:

How many people would like to see some Alatortsev coverage in one of the next few updates?  In particular with 5...Nf6?

Correct, John S, at least as I understand it. This is the point of 3...Be7.

It must be true because it's in my book.

Hello,

Well I will see how sucessful answering this basic question, was not to great with similar one involving h6 or not.
I thought one of the main points of 3...Be7, was to avoid exchange variation lines like 3...Nf6 4.pxp pxp 5.Bg5 c6 6.e3 Bf5 6.Qf3 bg6 7. BxN etc, although players like Short think this ok for black. The main point being with knight early f3, black can't be stopped from developing bishop, i.e 4.Nf3 Nf6 5.cd5 ed5 6.Qc2 c6 7.Bg5 g6 followed by Bf5.
Seem could all do, with looking at that Sadler book again.
Bye John S

But with this order with is forced to play with N on f3.
And, but I'm no expert about this, black may be able to play ...Nxd5 getting into a semi-tarrash.

Is the move order 4.Nf3 Nf6 5.cd5 ed5 better for Black than a usual QGD? White can play 6.Qc2 to stop ...Bf5, while I don't see how Black avoids a Nf3 Exchange Variation.

I think that studying the Botvinnik-Petrosjan and the Karpov games (he played on both sides i guess) will give you all the understanding you need in such lines. Of course Kasparov talks about in his DVD!

I'd like to request some Alatortsev coverage.  It looks to me like there are only three annotated games with 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Be7 4.cxd5 exd5 5.Bf4, and no games that cover 5...Nf6.  Perhaps an update for the Alatortsev with 5...Nf6, or maybe one that covers some Black tries at sharpening the game in these QGD Exchange lines would be much appreciated by the subscribers?
