When I played the Ryder Gambit (4...exf3 5.Qxf3) I had decided that 4...Bf5 5.fxe4 Nxe4 6.Qf3 did not offer enough for the pawn. So I preferred 5.g4. I came to the conclusion that this was about equal and a lot of fun.

Doubledpawns, who said that the BDG is a forced win? You like to invent stories maybe. But personnally, I fully agree that Black has at least equality. But the question is: have they more than equality with the best play from both side?

Hi Wight, welcome here, I did not watch your game with a board for the moment but it was OTB, right? and with which time control?
I play the Rasmussen too and after 7..Qc8 I like Bd3!? here. White's attack is not terrifying here but there is still some compensation for the pawn.

2.and with which time control? 40/90 then G/60

Yes Rybka 2.3.2 likes 8.Bd3 too.

I don't have a board in front of me, but I don't think White obtained enough compensation for the pawn in the opening. However, be prepared for one of the BDG fanatics to lecture on the subtelties of this variation and how supposedly the BDG is a forced win for White Grin.
