I am back from a location at Egypt and the lines mentioned above are the only lines that I considered better for white, particellery early Re1.

But about that Rybka line I fail to find other games on it as well.
Some of the games of the article was intresting.

After reading the article I think that 12 .. Nxc3 seems to be playable but white is slightly better in some lines.

EDIT 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Be3 Bg7 7. f3 O-O 8. Qd2 Nc6 9. O-O-O d5 10. exd5 Nxd5 11. Nxc6 bxc6 12. Bd4 Nxc3 13. Qxc3 Bh6+ 14. Be3 Bxe3+ 15. Qxe3 Qb6 16. Qxe7 Be6 17. Qa3 Rad8 is the articles main recomendation for black

Can you point out which lines you are worried about? At first sight it all looks so easy from Black's point of view...

Qxb6 has been played earlier by no less than GM Tiviakov agianst GM Alterman in 1990. That game was also a draw, for annotations see the above mentioned article or perhaps Rogozenkos disc.

A theoretical article by Andre Schulz was published in CBM 114. His conclusion is:
"The Bjerring Variation seems to offer Black a simple and rather safe way to equality. Most often, the one pawn deficit is almost completely compensated for through active play. Moreover, in contrast to the main lines there is hardly any theory that has to be learned. Probably the line has been underrated until now because of psychological reasons: What Dragon player wants to swap his Bg7 voluntarily? However, even without its virulent guard on g7 Black’s position on the kingside proves to be surprisingly robust. It's also a plus that this variation offers both sides possibilities for active play and counterchances. If this line proves to be a solid line against the main variation after 9.0-0-0 in the future we will certainly see more Dragon games. And if the Bjerring Variation indeed offers Black such a solid answer to the main line after 9.0-0-0 as it now seems, White will have to look for alternatives."

Milen

I have read many of Schultz annoted Dragon games (high standard) so I ordered a copy to see for my self what he thinks of this line and what games he shows. Unfortunalley I wont be have a copy for several weeks since the article is from 2006 and my "local" chessstore has to import it for me (they have the lastest CBM:s in stock).

This line, like the Dragon, used to be fairly popular and many GMs still plays it. This line, along with 12 .. e5, was recommended by Khalifman on Rogozenkos disc.

But in many lines black is fighting for a draw in difficult endings. This line also has a lot are forced draw variations. But if white doesnt play endgame variations black can win too. Dearing writes something like that "the variation is still reletive unexplored"

What is the status of this line? After looking through it a bit, it seems quite reasonable.
