Sorry, micawber. After 9 d3 h5 10 d4 Bd6, can white play 11 Nxf7? Black could be in some big trouble.

After 13 Rxg4, how does the black Q jump from h4 to c5? White seems to have the better position here.

Mnb, after black swaps the pieces off I don't have specific lines but white has a structural and spatial advantage. what is your plan as black?

Do you have any views on 4 b3 against the Fischer, by the way?

Forget McDonald, consult ChessPub instead.  Wink

[Paul Cumbers] provided analysis of this line in a previous KGA thread.
Black's most promising lines are:

7.Be2,Nxe4

Var I.
8.0-0, d5!
9.d3 , h5    (=+ after 10.Ne5,Bd6)

Var II.
8.0-0, Qxh4
9.Rxf4,f5!
10.d3          [Mnb!]
10.....,Bg7   (10....Ng3 is unclear)
11.dxe         (forced in view of the threat ...Bd4+)
11.     fxg
12.Bxg4,Bxg4
13.Rxg4       (I like black: 13..Qc5+ 14.Kh1,Nd7 =+)
Note that in the last variation black has a perpetual if necessary.

What is White's idea after 7...Nxg4 8.Bxg4 Bxg4 9.Qxg4 Qf6 ? Could you give some lines?

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

What is wrong with 7 Be2? In McDonald's book it is not even mentioned. I have gone through variations and it looks much better than 7 Nxf6.

Similarly, there is not one mention of 4 b3 against the Fischer, a move Johansson devotes a whole chapter to.

What do you think of these two moves?
