Karpov made use of 2...-d5 in his match against Sokolov in the 80's and was quite successfull with it.
  
Yusupov once said that “The problem with the Dutch Defence is that later in many positions the best move would be ...f5-f7” but he is surely wrong.

2...e5 is the main alternative. I suspect 2...e6 is considered passive
