Flexible French is the best book I have read. Moskalenko is a great author. The Fabulous Budapest Gambit is another good book.

I received the book today and the first impreesions are excellent. The book is equal and the same format as The Fabulous Budapest Gambit from Moskalenko that had five stars from Chesscafe. Every chapter have strategy with typical ideas and plans for White and for Black, typical endings, heros and very well commented games explaining the theory and beautiful paintings! (ex: The liberty by Delacroix from Louvre is one of many in the book). A new format of making a chess book and for me one of the best I´ve seen this year and for a long time. I like honest authors and Moskalenko is one of them.
Highly recommended!
For people who judge books without seeing the contents,  please don´t buy it! This is a book only for french lovers  Smiley  (other five stars book in a diferent way is the one from Eingorn for Chess Explained).

...

Thanks for the review. That looks like a whole new type of opening book and a very interesting one at that.

Sorry for missunderstanding. I did not want someone to publish entire content of that chapter of the book or too much detailed analysis. I was only curious if the move 15...Nb6!? is mentioned in the book. Anyway I am going to buy the book, because I played French for almost 10 years and I am still interested in it.

Regards

No problem to reply to this question and it is very easy just because in the book 7...Qb6 is an almost forgotten idea  Grin

Hello, it would be interesting for me what Moskalenko says about the line in the following topic:
http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1214391315

Thanks in advance

I don't wish to offend, but I think that we should not ask those who have paid for a theory book still in print (still less newly in print, as here) to post its recommendations in very much detail in a public forum.  So I hope that whoever responds to this will be circumspect.

I think Chevalier's inference is correct and "Black Queen Blues" refers to the old Bronstein favorite, 6...Qa5 in the Winawer.

Perhaps instead of just the table of contents, we should also ask for an index of variations? I have no idea what the author is referring to by any of the chapter titles, i.e.  semi, anti or old winawer.

This is purely a matter of taste, but when it comes to tastes in opening books, I'm something of a purist.  The table of contents puts me off the book a bit.  I feel like I'm not Moskelenko's primary audience.

Those of you who do buy it, I'd love to see what you think of the content of the book!

A purist. Regarding contents pages. Of chess books.
Genius. Huh Grin

Look forward to the book....

Hello,

The book "Flexible French", authored by Viktor Moskalenko, is going to be published in June 2008 according to New In Chess. The subtitle states that the book has "10 surprise weapons for Dynamic Chess Players" - therefore it will probably be similar to Dangerous Weapons: The French.

We now know one line for certain: A letter from Moskalenko to the latest NIC Yearbook (87) indicates that "the Flexible French will contain a thorough study of the MacCutcheon system."

To judge by Moskalenko's recent contributions to Chessbase Magazine, the Winawer with 6...Qa5 is probably another.

Perhaps the book will reflect Moskalenko's own practice; he seems to play the French as if he believes that "OK, the French is a bit inferior, but I like it, and if I can play a variety of different systems within the French, I will not offer a stationary target and I'll be OK most of the time."

The Mccutcheon leads to difficult positions where club players will find things anything but easy from both sides of the board. In my opinion this would be a useful addition to any French specialists repertoire.

I am hopelessly addicted to the King's Gambit
