I have faced this line 3 times in internet games and won every time.
I have also faced it some times at my local club in some unrecorded blitz games . I usually plays Nd7 followed by e6 and c5, but I have never bothered to look at this any deeply.

When I searched my database of online games I learned that I had to play this variation three times as black and that I lost all games. Wink
So it seems to be a good blitz weapon?!

BTW, Rogozenko gives the game Zaremba-Shahade, 1996:

11.e5 Nd7 12.f4 e6 13.h4 f6!? (quickly breaking in the center) 14.ef6: Qf6 15.g3 c5 and it looks like a very good French for black with Rb8 coming and pressure on b2. Black won that game very quickly.

The second game was annotated by Chris Ward for Chesspublishing.  If you're a subscriber it should be easy to find.  Ward considers 11.e5 a rather dubious move.

I've been meaning to bring this up for a while, since I see it quite a bit, and it really isn't covered in any books. Another plan for Black is to just play ...e6 and ...c5. I have never deeply looked at it, but I've played against it quite a bit. I'm interested to hear what other people have to say, especially if the man himself (Eddie) could chime in. Cheesy

Hey guys has anyone ever encountered 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 g6 6.Be3 Bg7 7.f3 0-0 8.Qd2 Nc6 9.0-0-0 d5 10.Nxc6?! bxc6 11.e5

When this line was played against me in a blitz game I had never seen it before.. it looks really good however! I was on the spot and didn't really know what to do..

the game continued 11..Nd7 12.f4 Qa5 13.Kb1 Rb8 14.Kh1 (so if I play Qb4 which I tried in a couple of games, white can play Rg8, with an excellent (impenetrable?) defense)..

from here it just kinda seems like black's attack is nullified.. while white is gunna get rolling with his king side pawns and mount an attack.  Black also must be careful that white doesnt play a trick with his Nxd5, and when black plays QxQ, white can play check first before taking the queen back.

Anyone have any idea on what to do against this line? It killed me Sad
