There were 4 articles in NIC Yearbook about the line with 6...Bd7. These articles appeared in volumes 62, 83, 84 and 85. The overal conclusion is that the game is about equal with small advantage for White in some lines.
I was surprised to see this post, because yesterday I started my research on this line and thought to try to create a CB database with all relevant games and theory about this line. So your post comes just in time Smiley.
Also there was an article in CBM 113 by Lukacs and Hazai, which is also important.
My current research shows that for now the line 7.Be2 Qa5 creates most problems for Black. But after I finish my work on the variation I can share my conclusions.

Regards

What do they say about 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3  d6 6. Bg5 Bd7 7. Qd2 Rc8 8. f4 Nxd4 9. Qd4 Qa5 10. e5 dxe5 11. fxe5 e6 12. 0-0-0 Bc6 13. Nb5

I remember that Yermo thought this basically refuted this line in his book, and even offered up another suggested improvement for White a couple of moves down the line. I'd be interested to know where the improvement lies. I always liked the other lines with an early White 0-0-0 and ...Rxc3, etc...What yearbooks are these in?

I think the Yearbooks said that the variation was very solid and that White can probably obtain a small edge with accurate play, but Black should be able to equalise eventually.

I also loved this variation for Black, what have the most recent yearbooks said about it?

Hello,

What is the current status of this fashionable variation? Has anything changed since the mega-survey on this variation in the last few Yearbooks?
