Thanks bragesjo, I turn on engine and conclude that probably a5 and Qc7 should transpose one to another and Qa5 is probably slightly inferior move but a5 is the most forcing move since there is immediate threat to whites bishop.

Since my main computer is not working do to the McAfee antivirus upgrade bug I have not access to my notes on either Qa5 och Qc7. I have always prefered Korchnois a5 since it forces a consession from white regarding the kings position, forcing either a3 or a4. In many lines pawn to a4 allows black to play a pawn sac to b5 exposing whites king to major fire. I have played a5 line many many times and always got a strong attack, sometimes leeding to mate, sometimes leeding to material advantage or sometimes leeding to time wins in positions where black is slightly better.

1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 d6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Nf6 5. Nc3 g6 6. Be3 Bg7 7. f3 O-O 8. Qd2
Nc6 9. Bc4 Bd7 10. O-O-O Rc8 11. Bb3 Ne5 12. Bh6 Bxh6 13. Qxh6 Rxc3 14. bxc3

So in this position the best move is Kortschnojs a5?

Rogozenko:
Quote:
Black's kingside is solid and he is ready for dynamic action against White's queenside weaknesses. The diagram position represents typical compensation for the exchange, one of the best forms of it for Black. He can start here with 14...Qc7, 14...Qa5 or 14...a5. The latter forces 15.a3 (worse is 15.a4, see Geller,E - Kortschnoj,V ½-½). Black has the initiative and his chances are not worse, see Zolet,A - Bertino,G ½-½, Al Subaihi,K - Vescovi,G ½-½.

What about Qc7 and Qa5, which of three moves is objectively the best?

I would certainly doubt White's compensation after 11...Nxd4 12. Bxg7 Nxf3.

It drops a piece (10...Bxh6), if I understand you correctly.

so here i am looking for a nice chinese dragon after 9.Bc4 Bd7 and all of a sudden........ 10.Bh6.  how very annoying....

any suggestions? it seems like an innacurate move order but i lost the game after allowing it to be taken and retaking with the king but the old h4 attack busted me hard.
did i miss some vital tactic??
