(Well, from the above mentioned download you get absolutely
NO idea what kind of endgame book it is. Shame on NiC!)
I´ve got a copy and I like this book very much! 8-9 stars (out of 10) It contains far less material than Fine, Dvoretzky or Müller/Lamprecht
(depending on your wishes you can see this as disadvantage or advantage:
at least you don´t shy away from the sheer volume).
It´s not about all theoretical endgames but only about the "exact" endings.
That means reduced material, very few pawns:
R+PvR, R+2PvR, RvP, Mp+PvMp, R+PvMp, NvP, QvP, QvR+P,
R+BvR, B+2Pv#B, Pawn endgames with 1-3 pawns, ...
(the breakthrough 3Pv3P is the example with most material!)
Okay, you can debate about the choice, but de la Villa is obviously
a very good&experienced player/trainer.
And these "100 endgames you must know" are surely a very good
start before you delve into endgames with more material.
(The only endgame I really miss is the classical R+4PvR+3P with extra pawn
on the other wing. Maybe not an exact ending, but VERY important!)
You now might get the impression that this book is a primer, but no, it isn´t!
Imo it´s adressed to club players of a ~1600-2300 level, who have the usual knowledge
and practical experience in some endings, but have never really studied
endings in depth.
There´s a list/recapitulation/test at the start of the book, any 1600 player should
be able to know/solve that. Then 100 endgames (enhenced with little exercises).
At last the real test (with some quite difficult questions for an expert player like me)
This endgame book is no complete reference and you really have to work with the book.
But it´s very didactical. I think it´s more understandable as even Dvoretzky, I´m just
fascinated by the clear explanations about the more difficult exact endgames
(like R+PvMp or B+2Pv#B).
Maybe it´s no must-buy, if you already have Dvoretzky or Müller/L. and really work
through 400++ pages. But for most practical players below master level
it offers the probably more effective alternative to study the really important
100 endgames better and faster. And to use the complete endgame book
on the book shelf only for more referential purposes or for some
more complex endgames.

Edit:
Maybe even improving 1200+ players (who know the basic mates) can use this book as introduction,
but it is obviously more designed for advanced club or experts players who know most assessments
of the above listed endgames but are not able to play them perfectly (or at least well) with the clock
ticking and decide to study what they´ve already noticed and imperfectly practiced for a long time
(compare the downloadable introduction!)
