Thanks to Chess Publishing Support for explaining that manually renaming the file from "pgn_zip.php" to "pgn.zip" solves this problem.

Now I have a followup question.  I see that the 1500 cap still applies even when downloading the zipped file.  Is there no way to capture the entire contents of the site with a single download?

Problem Downloading Pgn Zipped Files

When I am in the PGN Games Archive and click on "download all zipped" (required if downloading over 1500 games), I get a php file that my computer doesn't know how to open.

Has anyone else had this problem, and does anyone know how to solve it?  This has happened to me know on three different computers, so I don't think it is something wrong with my computer.
