I am surprised no one has mentioned the upcoming book, Dangerous Weapons: The GM Draw

Chapter titles include...

Chapter 1: Play like a Painter
Chapter 4: Catch the football game ('soccer' in the English edition)
Chapter 6: Threepeat Leko
Chapter 9: Pleasing the fans
Chapter 13: Energy conservation

Smiley

But Seth, please don't be under the impression that ANYONE here in England refers to football as 'soccer'.  That's a grave insult to our national sport Wink

I'm sure he meant, the American edition.

In fact, chess is not so difficult: you just have to learn when is the right moment to offer a draw!

Yusupov once said that “The problem with the Dutch Defence is that later in many positions the best move would be ...f5-f7” but he is surely wrong.

One of my preferred when playing against a stronger player (difference between 100 and 200) is to offer a draw at about move 15 if my position is a bit better.  Most of them refuse and then feel obliged to prove they are better and can win... Needles to say how it all ends  Cheesy

They say that a good time to offer a draw is when your chances are doubtful, but you are able to find a move that initiates complications.  I did that once just because I had heard of this principle.  I offered the draw and went to the restroom.  When I got back and sat down, my opponent politely said no, looked down, and played a bad move.  I won.

It remembers to me what Gurevich often says after sacrificing a pawn: now I may not have compensations but I have well good complications! (or something like that)

Not to be confused with "Play the Woman", a book which Everyman still refuses to publish despite requests by many people, predominantly males.

Anyone also writing Starting Out, Cheating?

Needless to say, it would be a best-seller. It means we won't have any more scaredy yellow cowards who are afraid to cheat due to fear of being caught.

Another book planned by Everyman:

Play the Man (not the board)
By Garry Kasparov

The opponent has a well-deserved reputation of being the man that you must crush like a bug and beat like a drum, and it is no coincidence that it has been used by all the world champions in chess history. Put simply, playing the man is a brilliant strategy that can improve your own play while worsening the opponent's during play.

In this book, Garry Kasparov presents a repertoire of ways in which you can play the man successfully to defeat him in chess. He highlights the main ideas and the counters you must watch out for. This book will provide you with more than enough ways to Play the Man with confidence in your own games, whilst still making good moves on the chessboard.

Not to be confused with "Play the Woman", a book which Everyman still refuses to publish despite requests by many people, predominantly males.

I'm looking forward to this book, there are so many variations to cover... knocking your king over...stopping the clock...kicking the table, board and pieces across the playing hall  Cheesy

Yes, or as one master-rated player did recently after losing to one of my students, refusing to shake hands and skulking off while muttering to himself about being rusty.

Actually I wonder if this should be Starting Out book since it really is more of a repertoire book.  Certainly "Resigns" for many people would be a complete repertoire, and it would not even require them to change their play very much.  One thing you can say about Resigns is that there is very little need to memorize theory.

Still is is very hard to satisfy many chess readers today. Some persons will want to know why defaulting by not turning up is not covered. And some people will demand to know why draw offers are not covered in the repertoire.

Some more suggestions from Chess Monthly for Peter Leko's contribution:
1001 Drawing Combinations
The Chess Draw in Theory and Practice
Drawing the Impossible Draw
Draw Is OK!

Or how about Starting Out, The Fred?  After 1.e4 f5 2.exf5 Kf7!!  Black's wonderfully centralised king surely compensates for the lost pawn and impending further loss of material.  Another possibility is 2...g6! 3.fxg6 hxg6, which someone used to beat me at blitz by winning on time in a hopelessly lost position.

That second line is known as the Fred Double Gambit, or as some call it, the Double Fred. It certainly should be treated in Starting Out: Resigns, since there are many points at which the two systems transpose into each other.
