The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Then 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 (allowing ...e5) and 2.Nc3 Nc6 3.Nge2 might do as well. If Black tries to reach the Svesj via 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 then White has the independent 6.Nxc6 bxc6 7.e5.
This is at any rate less work then replacing the Svesj with about 90% of the 2.c3 theory. And this is my main point: in the 21st century it is a mistake to assume that the Anti-Sicilians save work, time and energy compared to the Open Sicilians. I know from experience, because for about 15 years I have tried (in vain) to make those shortcuts work. I don't say 2.c3 and 3.Bb5 are inferior; I say that they demand as much preparation. A fine example is your question in the 2...Nf6 thread.

Well the main point was to avoid the Sveshnikov..

If you play the c3 sicilian already you can play 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.c3 (or 2...e6 3.c3) and only the open against 2...d6. Then you'll only get those g3 lines against the najdorf, dragon and classical.

Does not make that much sense to me. White avoids the Accelerated Dragon (but g3 just transposes to the real Dragon), the Paulsen/Kan/Taimanov stuff (where g3 setups are quite respectable) and the Svesjnikov. Against that one I recommend 7.Nd5.

thanks for the link,
it does not seem to be playable against 2. ... Nc6, because of the svesh.
It just seems to be good against the najdorf I think.
Too bad, then I will stay with c3-sicilian

just have a question,
is there literature on the anti-sicilian that is open with early d4 but then follows with g3?
I think this anti-sicilian could be more to my liking than c3 (feels incorrect) or Bb5 (feels so weird).

Yes, there's a repetoire for white written by Nigel Davies: "Taming the Siclian".

E.g. see this review
