Fianchetto is fully playable against most sicilians (including the Dragon if white answers Nc6 with Nde2) and can be used avoid latest theory.

"Fianchetto" in what opening ever may be the choice to play solid and avoiding theoretical discussions, but still with the idea to fight for the whole point with white. I've never tried it against the Dragon but when I am in a non-theoretical mood against the Najdorf - and not without success...

Fianchetto is a rare line. I have only faced it three times (1231 dragon games total), all at the internet. I have also faced it a few times at local club in unrecorded blitz games. I know that at least two books advocate the white side (but I have none of them), "Taiming the Sicilian" and some german book.

interesting, the fianchetto has never been played against me in god knows how many dragon games. i thought part of the idea was to over protect e4 so that possible Nd5s can occur more easily
