Is the emphasis for the Blackside or the White side or both, what sort of level is it aimed at?

Thanks for any feedback.

I have it, keeping it along with the other junk I don't make use of now. It's not bad with the emphasis on the both sides, although his message is that it is only good as a drawing weapon. I prefer now more aggressive openings like the Antoshin with the Proto-Indian move order. But if you focus on the Petroff you may like it.

Having studied the Antoshin a few years ago: I don't think it's really that aggresive. My impression was that white is better without too much fuss.

What a Proto-Indian is I can only begin to imagine  Grin.

My very shallow impression of the Petroff is that the grandmasterly way of playing it is very different of our mere mortal ways. Plenty of play possible for black.

You never have the chance to win in the Petroff against strong opposition (2200-2500). It's too passive; that's the drawback. I presume, even its most ardent proponent, GM Kramnik, will soon stop using it.

are you serious? *looks for the hidden camera*

More serious than ever.  Wink Take GM Anand's games as a model; as far as I know, he prefers more lively chess. Kramnik seemed quite helpless in the recent match.
