10...Qe7 is in ECO (it was played in an Informant game over a decade ago), which thinks it is better for Black.

I may have answered my formal question : the second pawn should be taken; 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 e6 5.Bxc4 c5 6.0-0 a6 7.e4 (!? my punctuation) Nxe4 8.Qe2 (?!) Nxd5 (!) 10.Rd1 Qe7 (! a computer move) =.

Black is 2 pawns up, will suffer a bit. His position looks healthy though.

Shulman's line in the QGA

Hello,

     I wonder why. Cadogan's book by Neishtadt on the QGA, 1997 does give a winning line for white : 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 e6 5.Bxc4 c5 6.0-0 a6 7.e4 (ECO D27) when the acceptance of the pawn is critical. After 7....Nxe4 8.Qe2 Nf6 (what else?)9.d5 b5 (9....Nxd5 is too brave) 10.dxe6 bxc4 11.Rd1 , the piece sacrifice that just occured is winning.
     Fritz does concur and gives as best line : 11...Qc7 12.exf7+ Kxf7 13.Ne5+ Ke8 14.Bf4 Qe7 etc. (+2.00)
But then, instead of 8.Qe2, Shulman played 8.d5 right away against Kaidanov, 2004 -  you get it in the e-book from publishing.com. He must know what he is doing. His opponent too. So can someone get it right? Something must explain this.
This is surely of interest as 7.e4 would blow up the QGA!
