I happily disagree somewhat. Black may try the cool 7...Rc8 8.f4 (Qb6!?) Nxd4 11.Qxd4 Qa5 12.e5 dxe5 13.fxe5 e6. Moreover I do not really trust the exchange sac 10...Rxc3; Black has 10...h6 or 10...e6. And finally, as I already said, I find 10.Bd2 annoying.

As I remember from my old work on this line the best for White is 8.f4!
The reason is quite simple: In the line 8.0-0-0 Nxd4 9.Qxd4 Qa5 10.f4 Black has an important resource 10...Rxc3. Playing first 8.f4 does not allow this as after 8...Nxd4 9.Qxd4 Qa5 instead of 10.0-0-0 white simply plays 10.e5.
Hope this gives you an idea of the nuts in the variation.

You probably mean 6...Bd7 7.Qd2 Nxd4 8.Qxd4 Qa5 9.f4 Rc8 10.e5. Both move orders I gave above are designed to avoid this.

I also remembered from Yermo's book that there's a pretty harsh forcing line where White doesn't waste time playing 0-0-0, and just plays Qd2, f4, and e5. I can't remember the whole line, but Black had to do some serious chess gymnastics to not lose right away.

When I considered to take this up as Black I did not like 8.0-0-0 Nxd4 9.Qxd4 Qa5 10.Bd2 too much. Black may try 7...Nxd4 8.Qxd4 e6 9.0-0-0 Qa5 10.f4 Rc8 instead, but 9.Nb5 Bc6 10.0-0-0 (10.e5!?) a6 11.Bxf6 gxf6 12.Nxd6+ Bxd6 is a drawish line.

Memory not what it could be, but was there a 3-part series on this ...Bd7 Rauzer stuff in NIC Yearbook not long ago? Was pretty thorough.

Chiburdanidze punted this at the recent Olympiad too as black.

Sorry if this does not answer your question, but you should find the resource helpful.

The position in question arises after the following moves: 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cd4 4.Nd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 Nc6 6.Bg5 Bd7 7.Qd2 Rc8 and now which move do you feel offers White the best chances to fight for an opening advantage? White's main options in my view are 8.Nc6, 8.Be2, 8.f4 and 8.0-0-0, the last of which is the most popular.
