For the record, as an American, I am offended by that ding-dong Gambit's continual exhortations re the First Amendment and U.S. free speach traditions.  Not only is he fairly idiotically referring to things that do not apply to even a U.S.-based web forum, he seems to want to ignore the fact that this is an international, world-wide forum.

Not all Americans are asses.

True, and not all Americans mistakenly suppose that the right of free speech implies that people have to suffer your outbursts in any forum whatever.  You have the right to go down to the Statehouse lawn, or some street corner, or publish a broadsheet, and spout whatever ideas you want.  You don't have the right to go into a Catholic church, stand up in the middle of the service, and shout "Damn the Pope!"

Spot on!

I would suggest that there is a correlation between # of posts on the forum and practical chess-strength. Activity not only shows willingnes to study the game of chess, but also the intellectual stamina and vigour required for success. So go ahead and... ahem... post!   Grin

Or it could simply mean one likes to talk a lot  Grin

Yes but those are assigned strictly according to playing strength and holders of fide chess titles rather than number of posts.

Do you mean to say that those members who make the most posts aren't the strongest players?? Shocked

I never saw the movie.  But another site, playchess.com, uses King, Rook, Knight, Pawn as symbols to show rank of members.

Where can I find the ignore button? Or has it been removed again?

It's on the left, under the member's name each time he posts.

Well, it just doesn't show up for me then  Embarrassed

I for one prefer the old YABB 2.1 style. The button is not available there, so far it seems only to be available in the default forum style.
