Hi Pingudon,
Thank you very much for your very kind comments!!!!  I am very pleased you enjoy them.  I enjoyed your comparison between the slav, semi slav and KID!
Thanks again,

Hi Zatara: I enjoy very much your questions and your comments and for me is a pleasure give you my point of view.
I have tried the three defences you mentioned and got this conclusion. ( Please remember that I am just 1970 over the board) The slav is solid, VERY solid, but a stronger player can outplay you easier than with the other two. You need to know aLOT of endgame and need to know very much technique. The semi slav is much more aggresive but the Botvinnik or the AntiMoscow demand from you too much study.
I would say the King´s Indian is the one to choose. You can play it solid or aggresive. You have several option in anything white throw at you. If white goes wrong you can punish him quicker! You can play it against everything but 1. e4
Well this is my opinion (the one of a patzer). I hope you find it useful

I think of the Slav proper as a technician's opening.  It definitely repays precision.  I'm not sure if the concept of precision is even applicable to most lines of the KID!

given you've picked three of the most popular opening systems at the 'super gm' level... it is hard to say they are ever... 'unsound'  Cheesy Radjabov, Ivanchuk, Loek Van Wely and others continue to essay these openings.

The Slav is a very much more solid opening than the KID or the Semi Slav. I'd say though the KID and Semi Slav lead to more theoretical play where you need to know your lines than the slav. On the other hand the KID and semi slav lead to more tactical play which you might enjoy. Try them out and see what you feel most at home with .

Hi all,
I am thinking what combination to play; the openings I am thinking of is the KID, Semi slav, and Vigus's play the slav.  So i am wondering till what level can on play the KID?  I guess the answer for the semi slav and Vigus's slav would be up till Super GM level and beyond?!?!
Thanks,
Zatara

My advice is to just play all three and make up your mind. If you aren't comfortable with playing these new openings in tournament games, just play ten 3 0 or 5 0 games with each of these openings on the Internet and decide.

If you like all three openings, then play all three openings.

Erm, ... all. Troll or a serious question? Zatara, relax, just pick one. Roll a dice or something.

If we are to trust Alekhine, Euwe, Kasparov, Kramnik and Anand these openings can be played up to WCh matches.
