If I'm one of Napoleon's dogs...then what are the other members?

And yes, I have read Animal Farm by George Orwell. Fabulous book, I might add. Smiley

Chesspub is not a free world. Sorry to disappoint you. GM Kosten is an enlightened dictator (and one of the best around on internet imo). The only freedom we contributors have is to take it or leave it.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

It really is irrelevant what any of us thinks about the politics of intellectual property.  So long as Tony is on the hook for any violations that occur here, we have to try to respect the law as well as we can.

Whimsy aside.
I actually find the cut paste jobs quite helpful to be honest as I rarely use chess software. Think Markovich a little heavy handed with the warning.
With great power comes great responsibility. Hobbes? Locke? No, Spiderman. Ease up dear Markovich. Don't let it go to your head.

Bibs,

rossia received his caution in another thread entirely.  A respected forum member wrote me to complain about rossia's posting large numbers of pgn games there, and I agreed that this clogs the board to no good purpose.  So I issued a caution.  That is all.

Frankly I don't need the hassle, all whimsy aside.  I'm just trying to do a responsible job.

But if I were moderating this particular forum, yes, I would delete the copyrighted material that rossia has posted above.  It's a separate issue from just posting piles of bare games, but it's even more serious.

I am not at all keen on publishing other people's copyrighted material too extensively on the Forum, as a) it is immoral, and b) they might sue me! Cry
Are there any experts on International Law out there who can clarify? Otherwise, rossia, please stop posting copyrighted annotated games, thanks! Smiley

Hello guys,
I am not a moderator of this thread, but please be aware that sharing a copy protected material here is not according to the forum and site rules.
At least in order to do that you must have written permision from the publishers.
Please be aware that we should follow the rules and protect the authors as from chesspublishing as from other ches sources.

So the lengthy posts were a political statement. I see.
Not western materialism? Being a Russian, perhaps dialectic materialism instead? Cant quite match that with cut/paste of chessbase, but I know only little.

Whimsy aside.

Maybe easier if you could just post the 8034 games here.

Even I payed dearly for Chess Informant's 1-103, I'm not bothered with western materialism so I share mentioned games for everyone interested and for free.  Smiley Smiley Smiley

Not much altruism in today's time, isn't it?
