Well I e-mailed all top chess publishers a whlie ago (November 08 I think) asking for a new book to be written on the Najdorf/Scheveningen funny how a few months later they are all writing one!

Maybe it's just a coincidence  Smiley

Intriguing project! - I think that this could be a difficult challenge.  In the Najdorf there are main lines for very good reasons, backed up by large samples of games.

Therefore cutting back on the theory will, I presume, be only relatively speaking.  Have had a think about what lines could be recommended and some lines are easier than others!  For instance 6 Be2 could be a problem, but maybe it is possible to be creative against particular lines.  For instance the Shirov solution to the Karpov system that Arizmendi and Moreno could be used.

I thought that A+M wrote an excellent book and provided an excellent repertoire.  My view of 'The Sharpest Sicilian' is that I wish they had put in all the minor Poisoned Pawn lines.  I still proudly possess a copy of Nunn's 1995 Bg5 book; and went through all the 'bad' lines.  I quickly discovered that if black doesn't know them then there are ample opportunites to go down in flames.

Ftacnik should be very interesting - have nothing more to say other than I cannot wait!

And all of this leaves Rizzitano - wonder what he has up his sleeve?

Year-long forum reader, finally decided to subscribe  Smiley

I enjoyed Gambit's previous Najdorf book by Arizmendi and Moreno, although the repertoire had drawish tendencies. I was hoping for a second edition and was a little disappointed by the author choice (no disrespect intended to Rizzitano).

I hope Palliser's book will not recommend lines ending in dead-equal/drawn positions. I still need a line against the English attack, the Sharpest Sicilian's lines were really not to my taste : knights on e8 and d7, no piece beyond the 3rd row, I still don't see how this set-up can fight for the center and wings.

No reason it shouldn't be good - its an opening he's a played a lot (with ..e5) and he's still young/conscientious enough to do a thorough job on the books he does Smiley Might be interesting to see how long he can keep it up for Wink
(his output seems high as he basically writes full time.).

Wonderful!!

I hope this will be a book on the "real" Najdorf with -e5 pawn formation. Not with -e6. But it is one year away!

A quick scan reveals no post about this forthcoming book: http://www.everymanchess.com/chess/books/Play_the_Sicilian_Najdorf%3AA_creative_... It will be a long wait but could well be worth it. Palliser is extremely productive but I know of no really poor effort.

Any opinions/expectations?
