Have just now received the booklet. A hundred games by all the usual suspects such as Gawain Jones, Hebden, Nakamura and coaches (does this mean something ?) such as Bangiev and Weeramantry.

The Open variation chapter deals with 1. e4, c5 2. Nc3, d6 3.f4, g6 4.d4, cd4 5. Qd4, Nf6 6. e5, Nc6 7. Bb5

The Centrum chapter  deals with those variations where Black does not opt for a kingside fianchetto.

And the final chapter iq about second move deviations by Black : a6, e5, b6 and even Nf6.

Complete repertoire, focussing on middle game types. There are even games with move-orders like 1.e4, d6.

The chapter division doesn't tell me much, despite having played the GP for more than a decade.

Quote:
001 Einleitung

011 Die Hauptvariante

064 Die Offene Variante

076 Die Zentrumsvariante

090 Die Drachenaufstellung

102 Seltene Abspiele im 2. Zug

115 Verzeichnis der Partien

And the review doesn't really say much more than "this is a repertoire book for white in the Grand Prix".

I'd suppose:

1) that the Open Variation in chapter 2 is about playing d2-d4 vs an early ...a6
2) the Centre variation could be about building a big centre with c3 and d4 - or could it be a reference to lines with Nc6-d4 ?

The main variation in chapter 1 - is it with Bc4 or Bb5 ?

Strange that they choose to give so little information on a new book they probably want people to buy  Undecided

I have never heard of the book (until now) and am not familiar with Ripperger as an author. Is there a link available providing information about the book?

Given that theory in the Grand Prix Attack changes relatively slowly, it will be interesting to see how it differs from Plaskett's and Jones's works on the opening, and what it recommends against Rogozenko's and Palliser's recommendations in their respective works.

@nyoke

Thank you! Smiley

New book by Reinhold Ripperger on the GPA. Anybody seen it yet ?
Opinions ??
I guess the author is reliable, his other works (not just books) seem to have been well received well.
