I respectfully submit that the Verresov is not "important."  Nor is the Tromp, when it comes to that.  Seems like we're a little hard up.

Importance comes from the point of view - for some of us Tromp is the most important thing in the world ;for others chess is just something stealing your time. But what's the meaning of life? Shocked

I can not agree anymore. After my family, finance & career, Tromp is the most important thing in life!

Earlier I enjoyed Eric's coverage of the Veresov showing best play for Black, and now I equally enjoyed Christoph's contributions showing some ideas for White.

Coverage of the London, Colle, Trompowsky etc. has always been plentiful and of high quality here, and I am sure there is much more to come.  Wink

Looking forward to the BDG-special!

One reason that Veresov is important is that white may have nothing better than Nc3 vs 2..d5 Trompowsky.

For example:

1. d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 d5 3. Bxf6 gxf6! 4. e3 c5 5. Nc3

This month's d-pawn special covers Veresov again. Eric has already shown a lot of ways black can neutralize white set up or even gain better game. There are many other d-pawn special opening that are not covered as much but Veresov gets too much coverage. I guess London, Colle, Torre, Trompowsky is played more often in both GM & club levels than Veresov. Can we focus on these openings more? We already have enough coverage of Veresov! Wanted to hear what others think.
