maybe it has often been introduced "guerrilla-style."

Darn sure it has - you might do a search on Zilbermintz Benoni.
Thanks to TN for splitting the thread.

The book had the effect good books usually have: it made the stupids more stupid, the intelligent more intelligent and the other thousands of readers remained unchanged.

Sorry for being off-topic. I'd eventually like to add to the discussion on the Flick Knife, but I have been working on Semkov's Kill KID lately. Maybe these last comments on the "Zilbermints Benoni" can be moved to another thread. :/

There already are a few dozens of threads in which LDZ's idea is mentioned.

I can't find a Zilbermints Benoni thread in the "Nimzo and Benonis" section. I believe you, but maybe it has often been introduced "guerrilla-style."

There already are a few dozens of threads in which LDZ's idea is mentioned. It is from a remarkable logic that according to LDZ 1.d4 d5 2.e4 dxe4 3.Nc3 e5 is not a BDG while 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 c5 3.a3 is a Modern Benoni - White hasn't even played d4-d5.

Naw man, you got it wrong. Wink

I did a search and found that 1.d4 c4 2.b4 is the Zilbermints Benoni, so 1.d4 Nf6 2.Nf3 c5 3.a3 cxd4 4.b4 must be the Modern Zilbermints Benoni, as opposed to the "Zilbermints Modern Benoni", which as far as I know has yet to be invented. Smiley

I have my own variation in the Modern Benoni. Here goes!

Modern Zilbermints Benoni: 1 d4 Nf6 2 Nf3 c5 3 a3 cxd4 4 b4!

This isn't the Flick Knife, so you might want to start a new thread. One point for discussion (in another thread): How do you plan to meet 4...a5?

4.b4 a5 5.b5 a4!? 6.Qxd4 d6 intending ...e5, seems to put the two center pawns to good use. (6...Qa5+ 7.Bd2 probably offers white good play for the pawn.)
