I am curious what position Ametanoitos is referring to also..

I just remembered seeing this in chessbase's advertisement of cbm 131 in the video sections:

Of course a draw with Black is not a theoritical problem by i prefer to avoid them. If anyone has any other idea in this topical line maybe it is time to discuss it. Or if anyone can tell us if Martin came up with another solution in his DVD

Yes 8.-Bb7 and 7.-Nc6 are more natural than 8.-b4 this move hurt me a little

I have to admit that 8...Bb7 indeed looks natural because with the Bishop on b3 the b5 pawn "feels" more secure. I have to admit also that my statement that 11.Qe2 is a "killer" move came from studying Sakaev/Semkov's book were they give a crushing example after 11.Qe2. Once again this shows that the openings books today can be a lot better. But this may be good for us! If the authors be right 100% every time, then we would have nothing to discuss here.... Smiley

Is this true?  Avrukh (p. 438, col. 2) says 8...Bb7 9.axb5 axb5 10.Rxb8 Bxb8 11.Qe2 c4! is satisfactory for Black.

Avrukh instead follows Kaplun-Ponomariov, Yalta 1995: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 e6 5.Bxc4 c5 6.O-O a6 7.Bb3 b5 8.a4 Bb7 9.axb5 axb5 10.Rxa8 Bxa8 11.dxc5 Bxc5 12.Nc3 b4 13.Qxd8+ Kxd8 14.Na4 Bd6 15.Nb6 Bb7 16.Nc4 Bc5 17.Nfe5 Ke7 18.Nd3 Na6 19.Na5.

I propose instead of 18...Na6, 18...Nbd7!?.  Now 19.Na5 is no trouble in view of 19...Ba6.  Black's biggest problem seems to be 19.Bd2 Ne4 20.Bxb4 Bxb4 21.Nxb4, but now 21...Rb8!.  White has won Black's weak pawn, but he nevertheless seems to have trouble demonstrating an advantage.  E.g. 22.Ba4 Nec5! or 22.Na5 Kf6!.  The best I could find for White was 22.Ba4 Nec5 23.Bb5 Bxg7 24.Kxb7 Rxb5 25.Nc6+ Kf6 26.b4 Ne4.  White has the outside passed pawn, but is this really such a serious problem for Black, whose pieces are all quite active?  Also, White may have to worry about that ratty h-pawn.

Whoops!  I just noticed 18...Nbd7 19.f3! when Black's life remains difficult.

Yes 11.Qe2 is the most ennoying!
i take a look at 7...Nc6 at first,it seem interesting
especially 8.Qe2 cd4 9.Rd1 Be7 10.Nc3 e5 or 10.ed4 Na5 but as Markovich point out it's not the ideal opening to take the full point!!
