I am curious what position Ametanoitos is referring to also..

Quote: "No problem with 7.dxc5. In fact if you notice the recommendation of Ippolito and Hilton in their "Wojo" book the position is actually slightly in Black's favor! Of course there are various ways for White to play after 7.dxc5 but i feel condident for Black in either case."

If you know of any improvement in Avrukh's analysis after 8...Bb7 (i know it was discussed in another thread here) or after 7...Nc6 please let me know. I feel that the best way for Black to play lies in the 12...Nc6 or 12...Nc5 or 12...Be7 in the variation i gave above.

Could you please be more specific (which position in the 7.dxc5 chapter are you thinking of)?

Thanks /A

I just remembered seeing this in chessbase's advertisement of cbm 131 in the video sections:

A system against 1.d4

GM Dorian Rogozenco has worked out a system for Black in the Queen’s Gambit Accepted which is “extremely simple to learn and to play”. After the capture on c4 and the standard moves for White of 3.Nf3 and 4.e3 Black can, after a6, b5 and Bb7, bring about a position which has until now been reckoned to be disadvantageous on account of the backward c-pawn. But in his video analysis Rogozenco shows an astonishingly simple way for Black to carry out the thematic advance c7-c5 and thus reach equality without any problems.

Has anyone seen this video in cbm 130? What lines Rogozenko gives there? Maybe this will raise some interest. Thanks

It is 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.Nf3 a6.

Anyone who has seen this DVD can tell as if Martin offers something good against Avrukh's recommendations? I raised a subject some time ago when i was trying to find myself any improvement for Black but i didn't succeded. Now i play:

1. d4 d5 2. c4 dxc4 3. Nf3 e6 4. e3 Nf6 5. Bxc4 c5 6. O-O a6 7. Bb3 b5 8. a4 b4 9. e4 cxd4 10. e5 Nfd7 11. Nbd2 Bb7 12. Nc4 Nc6 13. Bg5 Qc7 14. Rc1 Bc5 15.Nxd4 Ndxe5 16. Nxe5 Qxe5 17. Nf3 Qd6 18. Qc2 and now: 18...Bd4 as was recommended by Watson in one of his online reviews. What i don't like in this line is the "forced" draw after 19. Qe4 Bxb2 20. Rfd1 Qc7 21. Bf4 (21. Bxe6 O-O!)  21... Qb6 22. Be3 Nd4 23. Qb1 Bxc1 24. Bxd4
Qa5 25. Qxc1 Bxf3 26. gxf3 O-O 27. Bxg7 Kxg7 28. Rd5 Qxd5 29. Bxd5 exd5 30. Qg5+ Kh8 31. Qf6+
Of course a draw with Black is not a theoritical problem by i prefer to avoid them. If anyone has any other idea in this topical line maybe it is time to discuss it. Or if anyone can tell us if Martin came up with another solution in his DVD

Some months ago, I posted some analysis here which perhaps may be of tangential interest: http://www.chesspub.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1230744413/22#21

It concerns 9...Bb7, which I suspect is a better move than 9...cxd4.

Well, there you go!   So where is White's advantage against 7...b5, which is a very natural move?

Yes 8.-Bb7 and 7.-Nc6 are more natural than 8.-b4 this move hurt me a little

I have to admit that 8...Bb7 indeed looks natural because with the Bishop on b3 the b5 pawn "feels" more secure. I have to admit also that my statement that 11.Qe2 is a "killer" move came from studying Sakaev/Semkov's book were they give a crushing example after 11.Qe2. Once again this shows that the openings books today can be a lot better. But this may be good for us! If the authors be right 100% every time, then we would have nothing to discuss here.... Smiley

@Ametanoitos:

You said (in a post that I carelessly deleted -- my apologies) "Djy has proposed 14...Nbd7 (instead of 14...Bd6) which looks equal indeed."

Well, there you go!   So where is White's advantage against 8...Bb7, which is a very natural move?

Unfortunatelly 11.Qe2 is a killer for Black. We should look in another direction.

Is this true?  Avrukh (p. 438, col. 2) says 8...Bb7 9.axb5 axb5 10.Rxb8 Bxb8 11.Qe2 c4! is satisfactory for Black.

Avrukh instead follows Kaplun-Ponomariov, Yalta 1995: 1.d4 d5 2.c4 dxc4 3.Nf3 Nf6 4.e3 e6 5.Bxc4 c5 6.O-O a6 7.Bb3 b5 8.a4 Bb7 9.axb5 axb5 10.Rxa8 Bxa8 11.dxc5 Bxc5 12.Nc3 b4 13.Qxd8+ Kxd8 14.Na4 Bd6 15.Nb6 Bb7 16.Nc4 Bc5 17.Nfe5 Ke7 18.Nd3 Na6 19.Na5.

I propose instead of 18...Na6, 18...Nbd7!?.  Now 19.Na5 is no trouble in view of 19...Ba6.  Black's biggest problem seems to be 19.Bd2 Ne4 20.Bxb4 Bxb4 21.Nxb4, but now 21...Rb8!.  White has won Black's weak pawn, but he nevertheless seems to have trouble demonstrating an advantage.  E.g. 22.Ba4 Nec5! or 22.Na5 Kf6!.  The best I could find for White was 22.Ba4 Nec5 23.Bb5 Bxg7 24.Kxb7 Rxb5 25.Nc6+ Kf6 26.b4 Ne4.  White has the outside passed pawn, but is this really such a serious problem for Black, whose pieces are all quite active?  Also, White may have to worry about that ratty h-pawn.

Whoops!  I just noticed 18...Nbd7 19.f3! when Black's life remains difficult.

Yes 11.Qe2 is the most ennoying!
i take a look at 7...Nc6 at first,it seem interesting
especially 8.Qe2 cd4 9.Rd1 Be7 10.Nc3 e5 or 10.ed4 Na5 but as Markovich point out it's not the ideal opening to take the full point!!
